One day I took my children to the playground. We weren't meeting anyone there, nor did we have any particular plan. We were just going to play. My daughter was two at the time. I told her that we were going to see her friends at the playground - making the assumption that all children were her friends and that she would have other children to play with.
She asked me if I was going to see my friends too. This really hit me. I realized that I wanted to live in a world like that - where everyone was my friend - just like it is for little kids. It opened up my consciousness to the possibility of a friendly world, where everyone was on my side - where everyone was on everyone's side!
As I sat with what she had said, I realized that, in fact, success depended upon us seeing the world as kind and supportive - not just seeing it that way - but in the world BEING that way. And what would the world be like if grown-ups "shared" just like kids are expected to! It's interesting... We, truly, are all in this together!
The innocence of a child inspired this song and this approach to life - and I am so grateful :)
lyrics
Sharin’ People hand-in-hand, Sharin’ People ‘cross the land, sharin’ with people what we know – that Love and sharin’s how we grow! So, Sharin’ People everywhere lift your voice and drop your cares!
Chorus: ‘Cause we are all in this together, we are all in this together, we’re all in this together, let’s do it right!
Sharin’ People on the street, sharin’ with everyone we meet, & inside we’re keeping clear – ‘cause sharing only comes from here. Know your choice impacts the world - brothers, sisters, boys & girls!
Chorus: ‘Cause we are all in this together, we are all in this together, we’re all in this together, let’s do it right!
So, get up and dance! Or get up and stumble! Stand up and be clear! Or choose to mumble! Let yourself laugh! Let yourself cry! Let yourself Love! Let yourself smile! ‘Cause we are all in this together!
