about
"Great Spirit" was born out of the Love of Creator and of the Earth. It pays homage to our inseparable bond. It invokes our allies in the unseen, offers blessings, and sets sacred space for the ceremony of Life.
We are being called back to our hearts, to our connection to Source, to the Earth, and to one another as the remedy for what ails us. It is said that when we sing together with One Heart, we are heard by the Great Mother of the Universe. May this song serve as an anthem of unity - and may it remind us who we are.
I wrote the words to this song, in preparation for a concert that I would be leading with a group of children. I prayed to be shown the words that the children needed to sing for the world to be healed. These are the words that came through. The first time this song was shared, it was sung by a group of children , parents and myself - accompanied by a troupe of Native American female drummers called "Sisters of the One Drumm" led by Sewa Valencia at DisclosureFest - a summer solstice music event in Los Angeles. The experience was so powerful and moving.
Since this first sharing of "Great Spirit", it has been sung at gatherings and concerts around the world. I pray that you will sing it too! Give gratitude, set sacred space and help us all remember who we are.
